Description
Howard the Duck #5, published by Marvel Comics in September 1976. This Bronze Age issue is written by series creator Steve Gerber and features artwork and cover by legendary Marvel artist Gene Colan.
In “I Want Mo-o-oney!”, Howard finds himself thrown into the bizarre Arena of No Return, where he is forced into battle with the enormous wrestler Klout. It’s a typically eccentric instalment of Steve Gerber’s cult series, mixing superhero action, satire and absurdist humour.
Key Significance: Classic early issue from Steve Gerber and Gene Colan’s original Howard the Duck run, featuring Howard’s battle with Klout and a memorable Gene Colan wrestling cover. While not considered a major key issue, early Bronze Age Howard comics remain popular with collectors of the character and Gerber’s cult Marvel work.
