Selina Kyle grows up on the hard edges of Gotham and becomes a highly skilled thief whose independence brings her repeatedly into Batman's orbit. As Catwoman, she moves between criminality and heroism according to her own code, using agility, stealth and cunning rather than superpowers. Her complicated bond with Batman becomes central to both characters' lives.
