The Fantastic Four—Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm—are Marvel’s pioneering superhero family, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961. Their screen adaptations centre on exploration, family dynamics, scientific discovery and threats such as Doctor Doom, Galactus and the Silver Surfer.

Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm are exposed to cosmic radiation during an experimental space flight. The accident gives each of them extraordinary powers: Reed becomes elastic, Sue can turn invisible and create force fields, Johnny becomes the Human Torch and Ben transforms into the Thing. Rather than hide their identities, they become a public family of explorers and heroes.
