CHARACTER PROFILE

The story of Judge Dredd

Judge Joseph Dredd serves as a Street Judge in Mega-City One, a vast future city covering much of the eastern United States. In a society where conventional democracy has been replaced by the Justice Department, Judges act as police officers, judges and executioners, enforcing the law with uncompromising authority.Dredd is a clone created from the genetic material of Chief Judge Fargo, the founder of the Judge system. Alongside his clone brother Rico, he undergoes intensive training at the Academy of Law before becoming a full Judge.Unlike traditional superheroes, Dredd is an authoritarian lawman whose rigid commitment to justice frequently creates moral conflict. His stories combine violent action, dark humour and social satire, questioning the nature of law, power and individual freedom.Across decades of adventures, Dredd has confronted threats including Judge Death and the Dark Judges, the Sov-Block forces, mutant uprisings and corruption within the Justice Department itself.
