Green Lantern is best approached as a screen interpretation of the character’s foundations rather than a panel-for-panel adaptation. Start with Showcase #22, then compare it with Green Lantern: Secret Origin #29–35 and Emerald Twilight #48–50. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
