Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is best approached as a screen interpretation of the character’s foundations rather than a panel-for-panel adaptation. Start with Marvel Preview #4, #11, then compare it with Guardians of the Galaxy #1–6 (2008) and Ego stories in Thor #132–133. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
