Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is best approached as a screen interpretation of the character’s foundations rather than a panel-for-panel adaptation. Start with Superman #129, then compare it with DC Comics Presents #57 and original film story. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
