John Constantine is a working-class English occultist, con man and magician who survives supernatural crises through knowledge, nerve and manipulation as often as through magic. His involvement with the occult carries a heavy personal cost, with friends and enemies frequently caught in the consequences of his schemes. Constantine nevertheless repeatedly confronts horrors that ordinary people cannot see or survive.
