Wolverine is Logan, a mutant with rapid healing, heightened senses and an adamantium-laced skeleton and claws. Introduced by Marvel in the 1970s, he became one of the X-Men’s defining characters and a major through-line across the long-running X-Men film continuity and later multiverse stories.

James Howlett is born in Canada in the late nineteenth century and discovers his mutant healing factor, heightened senses and bone claws during a traumatic childhood. Living for decades under the name Logan, he becomes a soldier and operative before the Weapon X program forcibly bonds indestructible adamantium to his skeleton. His damaged memories and violent past follow him into his later life with the X-Men.
