The Amazing Spider-Man 2 combines ideas from more than one period of the comics, so its source material is better read as a group than as one direct adaptation. Start with The Amazing Spider-Man #9, then compare it with #121–122 and Ultimate Spider-Man #74–85. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
