Captain America began with Steve Rogers, the frail volunteer transformed into a super-soldier during the Second World War by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. On screen the mantle connects wartime idealism, the Avengers, political thrillers and the later transition toward Sam Wilson carrying the shield.
Start with the essential comics, follow the character through the movie library, then continue into related stories and live shop inventory.

Steve Rogers is a physically frail but determined young man who volunteers for an experimental Super-Soldier program during World War II. The treatment transforms him into Captain America, while his courage and moral conviction make him more than a military symbol. Lost near the end of the war and revived decades later, Steve becomes a central Avenger and a living link between two eras.
