Aquaman combines ideas from more than one period of the comics, so its source material is better read as a group than as one direct adaptation. Start with Adventure Comics #260, then compare it with Aquaman #1–6 (2011, The Trench) and Throne of Atlantis (Aquaman #14–16, Justice League #15–17). Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
