Justice League combines ideas from more than one period of the comics, so its source material is better read as a group than as one direct adaptation. Start with Justice League of America #1, then compare it with New 52 Justice League #1–6 (Origin) and Fourth World/New Gods #1. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
