Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness combines ideas from more than one period of the comics, so its source material is better read as a group than as one direct adaptation. Start with Doctor Strange #48–53, then compare it with Avengers: The Children’s Crusade #1–9 and Young Avengers Presents #3. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
