Iron Man 3 draws together recognisable comic-story material and reshapes it for a self-contained feature-film narrative. Start with Iron Man: Extremis #1–6, then compare it with Iron Man #200 and Tales of Suspense #50. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
