Spider-Man 3 draws together recognisable comic-story material and reshapes it for a self-contained feature-film narrative. Start with The Amazing Spider-Man #4, then compare it with Secret Wars #8 and The Amazing Spider-Man #252–259, #300. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
