Joker: Folie à Deux is best approached as a screen interpretation of the character’s foundations rather than a panel-for-panel adaptation. Start with Batman Adventures #12, then compare it with The Batman Adventures: Mad Love and Joker (2008 graphic novel). Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
