Venom: Let There Be Carnage is best approached as a screen interpretation of the character’s foundations rather than a panel-for-panel adaptation. Start with The Amazing Spider-Man #361–363, then compare it with Maximum Carnage #1–14 and Venom: Carnage Unleashed #1–4. Reading the references alongside the movie makes it easier to see what the filmmakers retained, combined or reinvented for the screen.
